Dbvisit Reporting - powered by replicate

Dbvisit Reporting: Offload reporting databases for critical data

Real-time Replication for reporting databases

Dbvisit Reporting allows organizations that use Oracle databases to easily create dedicated reporting environments in Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server (MS SQL). Now you can meet the demands of reporting and data warehouses without impacting your online transactional systems. Create and manage your own real-time read-replicas for offload reporting.

Get your business growing by getting your data flowing.

Up-to-date and efficient reporting is a critical requirement for businesses to make the most of their data, however running reports can be a hardware intensive activity that impacts the performance and availability of online systems.

Dbvisit Reporting creates and maintains standalone reporting databases that remove this burden from the online system, and allows users to create reports with the tools they are familiar with.

Dbvisit Reporting uses Dbvisit's custom replication technology, and is designed specifically to deliver real-time offload reporting databases for businesses using Oracle® databases. It is the smart alternative to Oracle Golden Gate and Oracle Streams products; delivering the full benefits of separate reporting environments at an affordable cost.

Dbvisit Reporting uses proven data replication technology to create and maintain an up-to-date replica of all or part of the online transaction database.

Transactional and online systems continue to use the original database, while large, resource-hungry and time-consuming reporting jobs are run against the dedicated reporting database. The online application and reporting databases can each be tuned to suit their specific purpose (high speed online data access or heavy report processing).

Dbvisit Reporting is the complete solution for offload database reporting. It is simple to install and configure, and comes with all the tools and utilities you expect for easy management.

  • Wizard driven, step-by-step guided installation process
  • One way real-time replication of Oracle databases to Oracle, MySQL and SQL Server (MS SQL) targets
  • Data to be replicated can be defined at the database, schema or table level
  • Uses efficient Dbvisit redo log-based change data capture (CDC) technology to detect changes at the source database, replicate and distribute changed data
  • Existing objects require no alteration
  • Database triggers are unnecessary
  • Full logging and tracing
  • Comprehensive help files
  • Replication is performed externally from the source database, maintaining system performance
  • Real-time status monitoring
  • Email notification
  • Secure data exchange

Key specifications of Dbvisit Reporting include:

  • Fully automated replication to offload reporting databases.
  • 2-tier architecture which performs the data mine process outside of the source database.
  • Automatic setup of network transportation parameters depending on WAN or LAN network.
  • Full ASM support.
  • Full support for Oracle RAC.
  • Easy to use intuitive setup wizard.
  • Notifications and full alerting when thresholds are reached, or errors occur.
  • Network security.
  • Full support provided. Automatic packing of log and trace files to easily send to support services.

Dbvisit Reporting provides a platform that delivers cost-effective creation and operation of dedicated reporting databases. Dbvisit Reporting uses data replication to synchronize data, enabling processing to be offloaded to alternative databases and server platforms. These databases are then available for ad-hoc and pre-defined reporting using a range of tools across a range of database management systems.

The benefits of using Dbvisit Reporting to maintain a dedicated reporting database include:

  • Reporting data is always up-to-date and always available.
  • The reporting database can be Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server (MS SQL) allowing organizations to leverage existing tools, licenses and staff skills.
  • Replication is efficient as it can include the entire schema, or a just a required subset of tables (e.g. exclude temporary tables).
  • Provides real time read-only functionality for Oracle Standard Edition.
  • Column exclusion to ensure unnecessary data items are not replicated.
  • Very cost-effective, as reporting can be offloaded to commodity hardware and operating systems, including open source (e.g. Linux and MySQL) to deliver a cost-effective reporting platform.
  • Dedicated hardware can be used to host the reporting database, preventing the need for costly upgrades to the high performance front-end hardware used by online transactional systems.
  • The reporting database can be tuned specifically for the purpose of reporting while the original database can be tuned for online transactional access.

Dbvisit Reporting Price List

The license type is determined by the CPU Socket count of the Source Server
License Type Max Sockets
  Euros  US Dollar
Standard One (RRS1) €7,500 $9,500 2
Standard (RRS) €12,000 $15,000 3+

Notes:

  • The Dbvisit Reporting license is a perpetual license
  • Support for the first 12 Months is mandatory with each license
  • Socket refers to each occupied CPU socket in the Source Server
  • Standard, RAC or Cluster environments supported. See note on RAC below

Virtualization

If you are using any form of Server Virtualization technology, then the entire Source server must be licensed. ie a valid license to support the total CPU socket count for the Source server.

Reporting Database overview

Dbvisit Reporting License Restrictions:

  • The license is for the purpose of building and maintaining a Reporting Server
  • The license is for replication from 1 Source database to 1 Target database
  • The replication is unidirectional
  • Up to a max of 2000 database tables can be replicated to the Reporting Server
  • These data types are not supported – CLOB, LOB
  • The Target database can be Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server (MS SQL)
  • 2 tier architecture only. No fetcher support
  • Dbvisit Reporting can be upgraded to a full Replicate license

Pricing note for Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters)

If the Source database is on RAC then add up the CPUs in the cluster to determine the CPU socket count. For example in a 2 node RAC cluster with each node having 2 sockets, the total number of sockets for Dbvisit Reporting licensing purposes is 4.
