Dbvisit Reporting uses proven data replication technology to create and maintain an up-to-date replica of all or part of the online transaction database.
Transactional and online systems continue to use the original database, while large, resource-hungry and time-consuming reporting jobs are run against the dedicated reporting database. The online application and reporting databases can each be tuned to suit their specific purpose (high speed online data access or heavy report processing).
Dbvisit Reporting is the complete solution for offload database reporting. It is simple to install and configure, and comes with all the tools and utilities you expect for easy management.

Dbvisit Reporting provides a platform that delivers cost-effective creation and operation of dedicated reporting databases. Dbvisit Reporting uses data replication to synchronize data, enabling processing to be offloaded to alternative databases and server platforms. These databases are then available for ad-hoc and pre-defined reporting using a range of tools across a range of database management systems.
The benefits of using Dbvisit Reporting to maintain a dedicated reporting database include:
-
Reporting data is always up-to-date and always available.
-
The reporting database can be Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server (MS SQL) allowing organizations to leverage existing tools, licenses and staff skills.
-
Replication is efficient as it can include the entire schema, or a just a required subset of tables (e.g. exclude temporary tables).
-
Provides real time read-only functionality for Oracle Standard Edition.
-
Column exclusion to ensure unnecessary data items are not replicated.
-
Very cost-effective, as reporting can be offloaded to commodity hardware and operating systems, including open source (e.g. Linux and MySQL) to deliver a cost-effective reporting platform.
-
Dedicated hardware can be used to host the reporting database, preventing the need for costly upgrades to the high performance front-end hardware used by online transactional systems.
-
The reporting database can be tuned specifically for the purpose of reporting while the original database can be tuned for online transactional access.

Notes:
-
The Dbvisit Reporting license is a perpetual license
-
Support for the first 12 Months is mandatory with each license
-
Socket refers to each occupied CPU socket in the Source Server
-
Standard, RAC or Cluster environments supported. See note on RAC below
Virtualization
If you are using any form of Server Virtualization technology, then the entire Source server must be licensed. ie a valid license to support the total CPU socket count for the Source server.

Dbvisit Reporting License Restrictions:
-
The license is for the purpose of building and maintaining a Reporting Server
-
The license is for replication from 1 Source database to 1 Target database
-
The replication is unidirectional
-
Up to a max of 2000 database tables can be replicated to the Reporting Server
-
These data types are not supported – CLOB, LOB
-
The Target database can be Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server (MS SQL)
-
2 tier architecture only. No fetcher support
-
Dbvisit Reporting can be upgraded to a full Replicate license
Pricing note for Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters)
If the Source database is on RAC then add up the CPUs in the cluster to determine the CPU socket count. For example in a 2 node RAC cluster with each node having 2 sockets, the total number of sockets for Dbvisit Reporting licensing purposes is 4.
