Dbvisit searched for log files, but could not find log file to transfer for sequence 8886. Last log file searched was: /oracle/wxsprod/product/10.2.0.1/dbs/arch1_8886_*.dbf. Please check if ARCHLOG_PREFIX: arch is specified correctly, else please contact Dbvisit support.
Dbvisit terminated.

If Dbvisit does not find the correct archive log location, it will try many different locations. The last location it tries is the default location and this is what Dbvisit reports on. It does not mean that the archive log should be in that location.

There are can be a number reasons why Dbvisit does not find the correct archive file. They include:

1) The standby database is out of synch with the Dbvisit repository.
To resynchronise the standby database with the Dbvisit repository run command (on primary server):
dbvisit R <database>
This will synchronise Dbvisit on the primary database with the standby database. This command can be run at any time.

2) Dbvisit does not recognise the log_archive_format. The Dbvisit variable ARCHLOG_PREFIX can be set in the DDC file to assist with recognising the log_archive_format. Alternatively the Database can be updated and the log_archive_format changed to a more common format. Remember to also change the log_archive_format on the standby database. Search the forum for log_archive_format to see the supported log_archive_format parameters.

3) The archive log file may not be on the file system anymore. It may have been deleted by another process. In this case either restore the archive file or rebuild the standby database.

4) If the database uses flash recovery, then the Dbvisit flash parameters may need to be tuned. There parameters are set in the DDC file for each database.
The Dbvisit flash parameters are:
#--------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Variable: FLASH_ARCH_DIRNAME
#
# Default value: archivelog
#
# Description: Name of the directory used by Oracle for flash_recovery area
# for archive logs.
#
# Sample:
# FLASH_ARCH_DIRNAME=archivelog
#--------------------------------------------------------------------------
FLASH_ARCH_DIRNAME=

#--------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Variable: FLASH_DIR_NUM
#
# Default value: 40
#
# Description: How many days to go back to look for archive logs in flash
# recovery area. Each day will have a new directory in the
# flash recovery area.
#
# Sample:
# FLASH_DIR_NUM=40
#--------------------------------------------------------------------------
FLASH_DIR_NUM=

#--------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Variable: FLASH_DIR_FORMAT
#
# Default value: YYYY_MM_DD
#
# Description: Format of the archive log directory when using flash recovery
# area. Standard a directory will be created for every day to hold
# the archives. This variable dictates the date format of
# the day directory.
#
# Sample:
# FLASH_DIR_FORMAT=YYYY_MM_DD
#--------------------------------------------------------------------------
FLASH_DIR_FORMAT=

#--------------------------------------------------------------------------
# FORCE_FLASH_AREA
#
# Default value: No
# Possible values: No, Yes, Ignore
#
# Description: Force the use of the flash_area or DB_RECOVERY_FILE area.
# Only necessary when Dbvisit does not recognize a
# flash area is in use.
# Yes = Force flash area.
# No = Let Dbvisit determine to use flash area or not.
# Ignore = Ignore flash area when Dbvisit has detected
# flash area.
#
# Sample:
# FORCE_FLASH_AREA=No
#--------------------------------------------------------------------------
FORCE_FLASH_AREA=

#--------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Variable: FLASH_ARCHIVE_LOG_FORMAT
#
# Default value: *_%t_%s_%r.arc
#
# Description: Default log_archive_format for when flash area is being used.
# The log_archive_format specified in v$parameter is ignored and
# a default is being used. This parameter allows tuning the
# default parameter when Dbvisit is not able to determine the
# default parameter.
#
# Sample:
# FLASH_ARCHIVE_LOG_FORMAT=*_%t_%s_%r.arc
#--------------------------------------------------------------------------
FLASH_ARCHIVE_LOG_FORMAT=

The Error is:

Dbvisit searched for log files, but could not find log file to transfer for sequence x.
Please check if log file for sequence x is available on node1.
If using setting ARCHLOG_PREFIX, then please check if this is specified correctly, else please contact Dbvisit support.
Dbvisit terminated.

The parameter ARCHLOG_PREFIX=arch

But my archivelogs (11G) are called ""thread_2_seq_3173.1398.721650053""

Is this the problem???

Thanks, and regards.

Hello,
The parameter ARCHLOG_PREFIX=arch is only used for special purposes and does not affect normal Dbvisit processing.

Dbvisit can recognise archivelogs with the format "thread_2_seq_3173.1398.721650053".

Are you running RAC?
For RAC, the archivelog destination must be accessable by all nodes.

We woud like to see the trace file from Dbvisit to find out what the issue is. We recommend you open a support call at our online service desk (http://www.dbvisit.com/support.php). This service is free during the trial period.

Kind regards,
